What can we help you with?
First-degree murder and attempted murder are punishable by life in prison. Mr. Baker has helped several clients avoid life sentences; either by persuading the prosecution or the judge that a less severe sentence was more appropriate, or by convincing a jury that the defendant’s conduct was justified in some manner.
Serious & Violent Felonies
If you are charged with the commission of a serious or violent felony (sometimes known as a “strike”), not only is there a risk of lengthy imprisonment, but a conviction for a strike offense can never be removed from your record.
Criminal Gang Activity
Gang charges greatly increase the potential punishment for any felony offense and are frequently used by the prosecution as a tool to “bully” a defendant into accepting an unfairly severe conviction and sentence or to trick a jury into thinking that a defendant has to be guilty simply because he is associated with a gang.
Sex offenses present a threat of not just lengthy incarceration, but lifelong damage to a person’s reputation and employment prospects.
Minors charged with criminal offenses can still face serious consequences such as incarceration and a permanent criminal record. Most juvenile cases are handled in the juvenile justice system, where the procedures are very different to “adult” court and demand specialized knowledge and skills from an attorney.
Although our primary area of practice is serious felonies, we will gladly provide vigorous representation for those charged with misdemeanors, such as DUIs, drug offenses, assaults, etc. We can also assist with sealing or expunging criminal records.
